is there a package or substitute for helvetica-bold-r-normal font?

I compiled xboard, but it will not run without the font helvetica-bold-r-normal.A helvetica font was placed in /usr/share/fonts/myfonts/ and fc-cache -f -v was run to update the font cache, but was not recognized by xboard. xboard wants the exact file.

I found an article that might help: https://www.gnu.org/software/xboard/...x.html#tag-A15

If you've already tried it, I apologize and suggest that you let us know what other things you have tried.

At the command line I can get a list of all the arguments for xboard. I do not see how to get the gui to load depected in the article you posted. Any argument I try comes with the reply 'no fonts match pattern -*-helvetica-bold-r-normal--+-*-*-

I tried renaming a helvetica font. I searched opensuse that has xboard running and could not find that font. I tried overriding the font for another font. /etc/xboard.cnf does not list fonts. Is the font proprietary?
