Lead (Pb) into the Linux notebook Pinebook Pro (*big danger for consumer*)

Hello,

Lead (Pb) is into the Linux notebook Pinebook Pro (*big danger for consumer*)

Lead is very very toxic. Even on your hands. The ageing of Lead can cause the tiny atoms to get to other place, if temperature is greater than normal.
If you touch area with Lead, make sure you wash your hands, but ideally with cold or very cold water. Not hot water.

Have fun

No. You are not going to die from touching anything inside the computer that contains lead. Only very high levels of lead poisoning causes death.

Fishermen have been handling lead weights since time began. Because the metal tastes sweet, there were problems caused when it was used as a sweetener by those who then didn't know better.

Well yes, but even low levels of lead poisoning are quite bad for a person.

However, I'm a bit confused, the article linked in the OP doesn't mention the word "lead" even a single time.

I am confused by the post as well. I don't disagree that lead poisoning is bad especially in children.

Don't let your pet or child chew or lick on pcb boards. If you can succeed in this, problem of lead poisoining from pcb boards in electronics while in home is solved. Real problem is that if you throw them in ordinary garbage, they end up in ordinary landfill. The rain water leeches lead out of the board into groundwater. Cumulative effect of a lot of dumping of electronics in a landfill is siginificantly contaminainating groundwater there for many human generations.

The electronics industry stopped using lead solder two decades ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROHS

There IS still some lead in most electronic devices. Do we really need posters on our electronics that say "please do not lick or eat your computer"? The amounts on current devices are small, it is HARD to get any on your skin, and in the USA your water supply is likely to be a FAR greater source of risk. (Use a filter that removes dissolved lead from your water when using it for drinking or cooking.)

And PLEASE do not eat your electronics!

You dont want to get lead into your body. Any time you touch it, it will get inside.
However lead stays *forever.

It should be prohibited to use lead today for such things. Consumers. ...

I would be more worried if I lived in an area that still has lead water pipes or if my food confained lead then lead in consumer products.

fatmac 03-25-2024 04:45 AM

I lived in a house that had lead water pipes for 50+ years, & I'm still going strong at 74, so I wouldn't worry too much about what other people infer about lead.... :)

Not bad... have you checked your Lead level in blood test.
People can have a reduction of values, after 1 year. Doesnt mean that values are better. Elements (Pb) goes into more deepeer into the cells/organs.
However, cancers can come later due to those things.

Are pipes so bad in UK ?

rokytnji 03-25-2024 06:46 AM

A lifetime of drinking liquids out of plastic containers and now gonna die from this?

OK.

As far as I understand, lead water pipes are mostly fine, as long as the water isn't acidic. If that changes you get things like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flint_water_crisis

So long your body gets Lead inside... it stays. It depends the level each day.

Anyhow, you eat fish :
