Replacing the OS on Jadoo 3 (Syabas Popbox V8 Rev 1.1)
Hello, this is my first post on this forum, so I apologize if I make mistakes in it.
I have a Jadoo 3 box, which is essentially a media player. The board inside the case, which seemed like a single chip board, said, Syabas Popbox V8 Rev 1.1. Which, based on some research, is a product that runs proprietary software. There is no sd card slot, 2 usb slots and 1 ethernet slot. And it seems like there is very little storage on board. Everything that the df -h, command showed had nothing above M in it. I can seemingly get inside the Box using an ethernet connection with the following command: nc <ip> 23. SSh doesn't work. Once inside, running uname -ar, gives the following output: Linux JADOO-42b93 2.6.29.6-22-sigma #263 PREEMPT Thu Feb 12 17:19:10 MYT 2015 mips GNU/Linux. Would it possible to replace this current OS with another like Raspbian, and if thats not possible would it be possible to boot a machine like this from the USB? I can't seem to access the BIOS, which I remember reading somewhere, isn't easily accessible on single chip computers like these. Thank you to whoever reads this. |
Most SBCs do not have a BIOS.

If you create it yourself, possibly YES to the first. You already got very far with this, congratulations. I made a few web searches (which I'm sure you also did) that did not yield any positive answers. It pains me to say it, but your best option probably is to throw that sh!t away and get yourself a raspi or some such. |

Was thinking about putting Linux and then Kodi on this device but, I do plan on using a Pi instead (or Pine64 board). |
