Gennymotion

I have installed Gennymotion on my Zorin system. I now have a virtual android tablet which will run Android apps. I can install an apk game with drag and drop and play it. However, there is no application icon on the Android desktop and if I shutdown, I have to reinstall the app. Any ideas?

Probably need to save it to your disk, & load it from there.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "saving to disk" I assume that's where it is now. Thanks

I think what fatmac is suggesting is that the program might be existing only in RAM.

How exactly did you install Gennymotion? Did you download the *.bin file from the Gennymotion website or use some other method.

Isn't Zorin OS based on Debian? I'm thinking that there might be an issue with permissions in regard to whom has such permissions in the OPs home directory and or an incorrect permissions issue on the execution privileges however, I don't that's way to far-fetched.

I installed with the .bin file. Also I have it on a laptop running Mint and it behaves exactly the same.

Did you follow the explicit instructions on their web site and if so, did you see errors/warnings during the install. Did you note the limited distribution support for Linux systems? Mint and Zorin are derivatives of Ubuntu so would be 'similar' so one might expect them to work. Did you read through the entire guide on the page at the link below which includes installation and using it?

I installed it on Mint Mate which is fully supported, using these instructions:

Open a terminal and move to your home Download folder1:

cd ~/Download

Give run permission to the Genymotion installer binary file:

chmod +x genymotion-X.Y.Z-linux_x64.bin

Run the installer. PATH is the install target path2:

./genymotion-X.Y.Z-linux_x64.bin -d PATH
