Vancouver Linux Users Group

From the vanlug web site:

The Vancouver Linux User Group (VanLUG) is a non-profit association of computer professionals in the Greater Vancouver area. With over 1000 members, it is one of the largest such groups in the world. VanLUG's main purpose is to provide a forum for technology professionals to meet and discuss issues pertaining to Linux and Open Source Software. However, the group is also dedicated to helping newcomers connect with people, companies and consultants in the Vancouver area who can assist them.

VanLUG hosts regular monthly presentations at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. These occur traditionally on the 3rd Monday of each month, except when that clashes with a long weekend, in which case it will be on the following Monday. To be sure, please check here regularly for updates! Special events are sometimes held at the University of British Columbia. Past speakers have included Richard Stallman (Free Software Foundation), Tim O'Reilly (O'Reilly and Associates), Dr. John Mashey (SGI), George Pajari (Faximum Software), Dr. Steven Jones (BC Genome Sequence Centre), and John Drabik (Lineo, Inc.)

I'm not a vancouverite, but I'd like to be. I'm currently in ottawa :-(.
How is the job market for nerds out there anyway? Recommended places to check for listings?

mbegovic 04-29-2004 03:35 PM

I don't know about the job market (not in it), but the beaches are awesome and the people are all pretty. Come on over.
