This is my Slackware desktop...

This is the thread for proud Slackware users. We show here our Slackware desktops to the other people.
This was my Slackware desktop (a historical snapshot made May 13, 2009): Attachment 594 I use Window Maker. On the left and on the top there are twelve dockable applications. On the right are three icons of running applications. On the bottom is opened application launcher. I use white wallpaper with Slackware logo by pwc101. The mentioned Window Maker dockable applications are: left top to bottom: wmCalClock, wmpower, wmnet (three instances), wmbiff, wmsm, wmtop, and wmdrawer; top left to right: wmSun, wmMoonClock, wmweather, and wminfo (three instances). The following two snapshots were made September 23, 2011 and October 21, 2011: Attachment 8221 Attachment 8222 I finally standardized the look of the desktop fulfilling the K.I.S.S. rule. In both cases I used just one dockable application – wminfo. It works with eleven different plugins. These plugins from top to bottom are: date.wmi, thinkpad.wmi, sysmon.wmi, top.wmi, uptime.wmi, df.wmi, netmon.wmi, biff.wmi, weather.wmi, linuxquestions-slackware.wmi, and slackware-patches.wmi. The first desktop is in gray scale and the second uses color scheme derived from Granger rainbow chart. My Slackware desktop is the result of the fourteen years of the constant refining. All the dockable applications I used in the past or I use now I put into SlackBuilds.org. You'll find the current versions of Window Maker here and here. Hints To take a screenshot you can use one of these methods: 1. If you installed GIMP run it and use File | Create | Screenshot option. 2. If you installed KDE run ksnapshot command or use K | Applications | Screen Capture Program option from KDE menu. 3. If you installed ImageMagick package use a command such as: import screenshot.png. It is good idea to save screenshots as PNG files because that format uses lossless compression combined with full color space. In comparison: TIFF uses weak LZW compression (if enabled), GIF uses reduced color space, and JPEG uses lossy data compression. To put an image in the post use Post Reply button at the top of the thread and then use twice the paper clip button from the toolbar: first to upload the image to LinuxQuestions.org and then to insert it into your post. |

I use WindowMaker, without a visible Dock or Clip. But I still have DockApps running. My setup allows the DockApps to be placed where normally the AppIcons would go, so I can have my 'Dock' in any corner, vertical or horizontal. Most of the visible icons are managed by the ROX-Filer. And I use taskbar as the panel.
I'll just link to a screenshot as it is too big for the limits for attachments: This_baby_screams |

Simple KDE 3.5.10. It's been my favorite since moving to Linux.
