configure sendmail to relay mail to exchange server

Hi,

I have a redhat application server, I need to able to send mails from there. As relay I should use my exchange.
I have another application Jira (on another server) that uses this IP as mailrelay and it works fine immediatelly: 172.18.20.2
I can telnet to that server to port 25 and it works fine.
I have changed this line in sendmail.cf : "DS172.18.20.2" and restarted the sendmail service.
This does not work.
What did I forget ?

Since you're using the ip address of the smarthost instead of the fqdn, you should enclose it in square brackets: DS[172.18.20.2].

Regards

Take a look at /var/log/maillog or whatever logfile Redhat uses.
Perhaps you should configure Exchange to accept mail from your box.
