Seeking Exchange client for Slackware with Exchange Calender support...

I finally got so sick of Win7 staring at me like my son, when I try to have it do something.

I grabbed a new drive, unplugged the old Win7 drive, and I am typing this on my work Slackware 13.37 box now.

The problem IS: I can't seem to find an Exchange client for Slack that deals with the Exchange folders, and has calender support built in (If I receive a meeting request, I cannot acknowledge it [Reject, Deny, Propose new time], as most are only "partially functional").

Can someone drop a link to a .tgz (or the name of a) package that will work with exchange fully?

My Android works fine with it, so I KNOW Linux can connect, but I have been searching and trying different possibilities for a few hours now, to no avail.

Please advise,

Thunderbird should be able to manage most email systems as well as Microsoft Office Outlook does. The only difference is you might not have all the bells and whistles of Outlook.

However, just some advice, but I don't use email client software due to problems with security and malicious software, and normally stick to web based email services through the internet browser connection.

You'll need Evolution with Exchange connector..............or just use OWA if it is enabled on the Exchange server.

You can also try "DavMail Gateway":

http://davmail.sourceforge.net/

I've been using this quite successfully with Thunderbird (with the Lightening plug-in).

This combination doesn't have all of the features of Exchange + Outlook, but it comes very close. I haven't tried using Exchange folders, but instead I can sort and store the mail on my workstation, which I prefer. With the lightening plugin for Thunderbird, I can see the Exchange calendar, acknowledge meeting requests, and set up meetings, including inviting other people with accounts on the exchange server. I can't open a calendar belonging to someone else (which I can when using MS Outlook), but when creating a new meeting I can view whether someone else is free or busy at a specific time.

The current x86_64 version of DavMail works well with Slackware64 13.37 and Slackware64 current. I haven't tried the 32bit version.
