After new install keyboard does not respond upon after boot

Occasionally, when I boot into Arch my keyboard does not respond. This is after a fresh install. I can see the terminal waiting for a login, but I am unable to type anything.

After I reboot the system the keyboard works fine. Then after a reboot the keyboard is unresponsive and requires a reboot to work again. The problem is intermittent upon rebooting.

I am trying out the Arch distro. So I have done a few installs just to be sure. This problem reoccurs even after a fresh re-install.

The only way I can repeat the incident is to reboot, but it does not occur on every reboot.

I am using archlinux-2012.12.01-dual.iso on a x86-64 laptop.

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. Other than the occasional keyboard problem the distro has been fine.

I installed the package xf86-input-keyboard and that seems to solve the problem.

Nevermind... every once and a while I still receive an unresponsive keyboard at boot.

I notice the keyboard *always* locks up after using:

Code:
$sudo reboot
The system *always* hangs after:

Code:
$sudo halt
Is this a systemd problem?

If your using sytemd that should be

sudo systemctl suspend
sudo systemctl poweroff
sudo systemctl reboot

I don't know what you have going on with your keyboard. I have if it helps
Code:
pacman -Ss keyboard | grep installed
core/kbd 1.15.3-3 [installed]
extra/libxkbfile 1.0.8-1 [installed]
extra/sdl 1.2.15-3 [installed]
extra/xkeyboard-config 2.7-1 [installed]
extra/xorg-setxkbmap 1.3.0-1 (xorg-apps xorg) [installed]
extra/xorg-xkbcomp 1.2.4-1 (xorg-apps xorg) [installed]

systemctl seems to solve both problems. Thank you.

I should read the new arch post on systemd.
