about the new RHCSA exam

I have been studying for about 4 months now to take RHCE based on RHEL 5. After the new release of RHEL 6 the exam has changed a little bit and I have seen new topics like KVM, ext4 filesystems and LUKS file systems. I need help with any new material for these topics.
Also, any recommendation for taking the new test would be helpful

Actually RHCSA replaces RHCT not RHCE though they mention some of the items previously in RHCE will be part of RHCSA. If you have a RHEL5 RHCT you'll automatically get the RHCSA. (If you have RHEL4 it will expire in 60 days).

You can find a lot of this information at the following:
https://www.redhat.com/certification/rhcsa/

Which has a link to:
https://www.redhat.com/training/policy/recert.html

I doubt anyone but RedHat knows what's on the new exams and due to NDAs folks sign when they take the exams you're not likely to get the information here anyway. It is best to use RedHat's training site to determine what you'll need for the new exams. I haven't checked but in past they had practice exams that would help you know what you need to study.

Ok thanks for the information MensaWater, however, on the redhat website indicates that RHCT will be retired March 1, 2011 so I think that I still have the chance to take the test for RHEL 5. But, I think that taking the new exam for RHCSA would be better choice unless there are really huge differences between RHCT and RHCSA. Am I right?

Other than what's on the links I posted I don't "know".

If you do NOT have an RHCT then I'd certainly test on the RHCSA unless they explicitly promise to convert it for you. From the email I got this morning (I'm already an RHCT) it appears they're no longer offering the RHCT exam but you'd probably want to call RedHat training to confirm.

I'm also not saying you shouldn't get the RHCE. It is still a higher level of certification than RHCSA. In the past RHCE tested you on RHCT as well (that is you are essentially certified in both if you pass the full RHCE). My assumption is the same would be true for the new RHCE - that is that it would include/imply RHCSA certification.

Since they are changing their certification to a new 3 year model remember that your certification is going to expire 3 years from when you first get it rather than with new releases of RHEL as it did in the past.

I was preparing like yourself and was ready to sit the test next month.
The new objectives make things harder. Their aren't any study guides that you can get for RHEL6 yet to work with the new objectives. With that said, I've found documentation from redhat on whats covered in the the new RHCSA test.

Can't update to RHEL6 from RHEL5 yet nor download RHEL6 from redhat. At the moment they are just saying to contact sales...okay.

I was able to download RHEL6 the day after it was released so I'm not sure why you're saying it can't be downloaded.

I may have missed some information somewhere, but are any of you aware of any new study guides coming out for this new RHCSA or the RHCE in whatever way it may be updated to go with RHEL6? I'm looking to buy a study guide but I'm pretty apprehensive about the ones that are now several years old.

You'll have to wait for updated materials at least 6 months (new Jang's book).
Only difference from RHEL5 is virtualization(KVM), ext4 and LUKS encrypted file systems (all part of new RHCSA). Just download RHEL6 deployment guide, and cover those topics from there.

Hi everyone!
It's unlikely that i'll get positive answers, but has anyone attended in new RHCSA exam?
I'd like to know what study material could be used aside Redhat's documentation

Talking Yes, I passed!

I'm so happy that I passed the EX200 exam.
I was very nervous, because it was my first Red Hat exam.

Just as a follow up to earlier comments: RedHat did send me an email with a link to the RHCSA certificate to take the place of my RHCT. It makes me feel better to see "System Administrator" on the certificate rather than "Technician".

When I sat the exam, I asked the instructor about the renaming and he said that it's relevant to work we do. I'm glad they got it right.

I'm struggling to understand what exactly it is meant by this objective in RHCSA Exam objectives:

Start, stop and check the status of network services

What network services does this actually refer to? Any ideas?

TIA
