I thought I would follow a Linux course, and I chanced upon this one:

But on the first page I come across this:

Which points me to this:

As a student what do I need to use the download (application/x-httpd-php)?

Do I need to install the whole server malarkey?

Or should I associate a filetype ?? x-httd-php ?? with an app?
do I have to install an app?

When I got to the site I get a download called:

ZndwNMKN.part

What do I do with it?

I am using openSUSE 11.1, YAST search gives result for moodle, but what do I need to do?

I for one am not going read through all of their instructions. They do, however, seem to be pretty complete and detailed---I would assume that you need to do what they say......

The moodle stuff looks like it is just for online collaboration. You do not have to have it for the course. Ignore it.

Hi and thanks.. The only instructions I could find seemed to be for setting up a server, ie. for providers of courses, rather than consumers, and if I could do all that, I wouldn't be needing a course in "Linux fundamentals" .... seems an odd thing to require students to do before learning cp mkdir ls rm etc etc.....

Probably good advice David, and I have the course in .pdf format; its just that I am a stubborn sort of character, and working with some fellow students or collaborating with the providers might be a useful thing. Is moodle not a popular or widely used toolset?

I do not know. I don't remember hearing about it until I read your post.
