The unixreview got a great certify page. Here you have info about most Linux certs. SAIR, Linux+, LPI

More here...

SAIR Linux on Unix Review

Thanks that was helpful. The weird thing is that the links to practice exams on Sairs web site is down. E-mails to their support are going unanswered. And Comptia is offering their Beta exams for 2004 for a discounted price. But I really like Sairs exam structure and exams although the scope of the exams seems a bit overwhelming being that it covers many distros.
Anand.

Umm, hate to tell you, I was one of the guys who turned out the lights at Sair, being the director of development and instruction, I was there for a year and half and have intimate knowledge of what happened to the Sair assets when they laid off the entire division. The only contact that exists is some shared secretary in Mississippi who won't return your email or phone calls for a very long time, if ever.

Sair is dead, dead, dead. You'll be wasting your money if you get that one, concentrate on LPI and Comptia, they're both alive and well, with LPI being the highest rated.

Beware also any schemes that ask you to take classes to get certified and then they employ you, there are some very unscrupulous people out there that have done this for years, just look up "Linuxgruven" on Google.

SAIR

Hmmm....I see. Thanks for your feedback. I'm sure you are right. Theres been no news on SAIR on the Internet after 2001. I'll look into LPI and LINUX+. I want diverse certs so I may grab a quick Linux+ cert and head on to the security, database, etc. certs especially with the Beta Linux+ costing only 3000 Baht here in Bangkok which is like US$75 (you'd be surprised how cheap it is to get the Certified Ethical Hacker cert here as well). Only prob is there are no practice exams nor books on it (Linux+ 2004 beta) but I could probably use the older versions as they would have some similarities.
I've reforwarded my email to SAIR 3 times and didnt get a reply and tried Tobin Maginnis's email but it bounced back.

I think your plan is sound, forget about Sair, even when I worked for Tobin it was sometimes hard to get ahold of him, and he's _not_ part of the name or assets anymore, they all belong to Thomson/Wave. I think you can email him at Ole Miss, but I wouldn't have a clue, nor would it do any good, other than to chat with him.

I'm sure that there are books in the pipe about the Linux+ 2004, but you're right again, get the diverse and complimentary certs, it's by mixing and matching skill sets we become more valuable in today's economy.

"Specialization is for insects" - Robert Heinlein

I have the CEH, it's a good cert, very hands-on and fun. Your linux knowledge mixed with CEH could take you places, the field-level security market is growing fast.

Don’t use braindumps

Why are you looking for Dumps sites. Actual exam is very difficult, my advice to you don't believe on Braindumps. There are good resources available on net. You have to go through.....................................for making your task easy I'm suggesting you uCertify.com. I used it and passed Linux+ exam and got 50% discount on it too. May be that offer is not running currently, but better you have to switched to uCertify.

Hmm, I wonder if "real vikings" cheat on exams? I'd never employ you if I had the least inkling you didn't get your exam legally. If you'd just use 1/4 the energy you spent looking all those cheat sites up, you'd have learned much more about the topic and have a good chance of passing anyway.

Next time, hitch up your skirt and really study and know the topic, there may be cheat sites for the LPIC, but too many areas of real life don't have braindumps to help the lazy along.

I did in fact go to night collage to learn Linux, beside a full workday. The dump sites helped me pass my exam, and my Linux cert.

Whatever. If you're working in the topic, you should be using the available approved and more legal methods, what sort of a test of your skills is it to use the brain dump sites? Besides, LPI is adding to the topic pools with the express intent to make it really hard to do what you just did.

I'm all for gaming the system, but you're making it easier for people who don't know Linux very well to game it too.

Anyway, let's see how effective you really are, sign up and start answering the 0 Replies each day, spread some of that knowledge around.

RonRice - I have just been reading through your posts. Just about every post you have written includes a link or ad for a particular braindump site.

Please stop it, you are now edging into unwanted advertising territory. This is now your last warning. Do not post braindump site links here again, or you will find your privileges to this site being removed.
