just 'cause you emerge it doesn't meen it's in your menu. in kde I have to edit the menu and tell it what command to run. can you do something similar in gnome?

no literaly it fails to show any programs, orignally it was full of programs and now it fails to display.
From what i can tell the file that contains the menu items is still there but won't load.
Found a post on Gentoo forum. re-emerge gnome-panel. It fixed mine but has done a few funnies to the menu (adds new menus to the panel, etc) but they should be fairly easy to sort out.
