Well, I mean, OP asked about wine. It so happens that this is a subject with which I am quite familiar, having first used wine in 1999 and also having used it on numerous systems and Linux installations over the intervening years. So, in the spirit of this forum I thought I'd share some knowledge.
I'll also share some facts about Conty.sh, of which you seem to be unaware:
1. The builder & maintainer is a member here at LQ. He doesn't seem to post much, but as
recently as last week was seen answering questions about Conty.sh here.
2. Conty.sh isn't a script. It's a static binary container. It doesn't install anything. It contains everything it needs to run, making it quite portable.
3. It runs without root privileges. You can download it & run it as a user. The level of 'sandboxing' is adjustable... but if you were anxious about it, you could easily add a new user account just for this purpose and block it's internet access.
You're right in that it isn't officially part of any distro... but I've been running it for the best part of 3 years with excellent results, which is why I recommend it every time this question is asked. Kron4ek makes the source available, and on the github page even tells you how to build it yourself if you're so inclined.
