i have red hat 7.2, just upgraded to 7.3, and just recently upgraded from suse 7.2 to 8.0. i personally think most linux systems are generally the same, linux is linux. have notice some difference in that some use tar.gz to upgrade, other distros use rpm,s. my 2 cents worth.
so far (as a newbie) I've perceibed the difference among distros is SERVICE. in my particular case i started back in may with redhut (old version i found in a magazines cd), two weeks after i received a full suse 7.0 form a friend who upgraded. because i know nothing about linux i change the distro. Surprise, suse doesnt give support for that version or older than 7.3
"Please understand that we don't give any support for a version older
than 7.3
and are also not able to answer questions in detail.

so I'm where i started. newbier than before.
i quess they are lacking a bit on support. i know when i bought suse 7.2, i believe i had 90 days support, that my email support was discontinued immediately after the 90 days, though i believe i called them once after the 90 days, and was given support. quess i am lucky that i can sort of figure things out now with some effort. maybe red hat is the way to go! have a good day
my friend got suse 8 from compusa he works @ for a bit of discount and i was at his place seeing the features and i must say i was using readhat 7.2 i decided to install 8.0 on my system too man it is great. Even my mouse scroll button works in suse unlike redhat 7.2 or 7.3
