UART- RTS/CTS handshaking implementation.

Hi,

I am implementing RTS/CTS handshaking for 8250/16550 serial driver. But the handshaking is not supported by hardware.So planning to do the same using GPIO lines.I was searching for some information about implementing the same.
How can i implement it using GPIO lines?
Do i need to make any changes in UART driver?

I think you'd need to add this function to the driver, because the moments when you need to deal with the two signals, and their contexts, are known to the driver.
If wired correctly, I see no problem with using two different signals for RTS/CTS.
