i checked some of the previous threads, and none of the suggested 'fixes' did any good.... i've created numerous nfs mounts in the past, so i'm not a novice at this, i made sure the nfs service was running., this may be the first time i'm trying to create a nfs mount between these two servers. the directories exist on both servers and the rights were set to 777 just to make sure they had the same rights. i check the hosts/hosts.allow/hosts.deny, the rpcinfo -p appears to return what its supposed to. and when i try to:
"mount phoenix:/u04/export /u06/export" i get the permissions error... i can scp a file from the /u06/export directory to the /u04 directory on the other server
if try mount phoenix:/u04/export genesis:/u06/export, it tells me "mount.nfs: mount point genesis:/u06/export does not exist" ??
i found the problem, i didnt' have an entry in the exports file on phoenix that would make the /u04/export directory available for genesis, so i added
/u04/export genesis.lccc.edu(rw,insecure,no_root_squash,sync) to the exports file on phoenix...
