Update: For the next 20 hours the Complete Edition (Civilization V, both add-ons, all map packs) will be on sale with 67% off. Though I have already a boxed version of the game I just bought it again on Steam to support their effort (and get the add-ons and maps).
According to the Steam forums, there's a bug with the DLC not showing up. The developers have chimed in to say that they are aware of the bug and are working to fix it.
Apart from that (and I'm sure it will be fixed soon), it is by all accounts an excellent port.
Indeed, I hadn't the time to test it yet (for some reason the Steam client suddenly segfaults with glibc 2.19, have to set up a system with an older glibc tomorrow), but from what I have heard it uses SDL2, which means that it is a native port.
The developers also clarified in their announcement that it for now does not work with all videocards, but with the help of the community they will add support for currently unsupported cards.
That is how a port should be done.
In the Steam thread about the port one of the developers has confirmed that it is a native port and that Aspyr (which by the way is a porting house like VP) does not use wrappers for their work.
Fine.
