Uplay for Assassins Creed 2: unbelievably long install

For starters the download was huge. I fail to understand why users are forced to create an uplay-account in the first place as one has to have one for AC2 anyhow. Then that download-size and after that an infinite time of installation (more than 1 1/2 hours, then I broke off but it restarts next time it is called right there). Still, at least one CPU runs on 100 % load (top says even 199% ). Is that usual? How did you handle this?

Found the reason out. The maximum number of open files was exceeded. Once I increased it, AC2 ran with no problems.
