Question How to setup write back cache on a USB Flash Drive during Disk spinning down?

Hi everybody,

I have seen somebody mentioning to use write back cache for extending idle time of hard drive in order to save energy. I would like to know more details to setup configure write back cache and to monitor disk state? Are there any websites/ documents where I can look for the configuration?

Somebody recommend to use hdparm -C /dev/hda, when i use it always show active.

Thanks a lot in advance for the helps.

Hi
Perhaps you could have a look at the section "Disk Power Management" of this guide: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/power-management-guide.xml
