Brother MFC-J220 cleans heads wastes ink - Slackware 64-bit 13.37

Every third or fourth time I turn the printer on, the Brother MFC-J220 likes to go through a one-minute head cleaning cycle. This wastes ink! Otherwise, it works fine. I installed it with this files:

mfcj220cupswrapper-1.1.1-3.tar.gz

Sorry I cannot be more specific. I'm shooting in the dark here.

Thanks for any help.

I have a Brother MFC240c. It goes through the cleaning cycle periodically regardless of if it is powered on or off. I think that is how Brother sells ink to make up for the low cost of their printers My answer to that is to purchase generic ink from one of the many on-line retailers of such products. I have never had a problem with generic ink.

Thanks

OK, so it's the hardware itself and not a drive glitch then. I never tried this printer under M$ W*nd*ws. I found a good place for generix and have had good results so far. Also, they're quite cheap:

Thanks for the info.

I have purchased LC51 cartridges from the vendor you name and they work fine. I am using the MFC240c under Ubuntu.
