Help, energy crisis

I have FC3 installed in my Compaq 2120US. Installation was easy and everything works great except the sound card.

However, I have just recently found out that when I am running Linux the energy was drained very fast. I lost nearly 10% in less than 5 minutes. This is nearly as much as watching DVD in Windows. I think it could be because PowerNow! technology is not working correctly in Linux so the CPU does not slow down -> high energy consumption.

Please help ^_^
