Unhappy "INIT: sending processes the TERM signal" ON BOOT

hi, I'm having a problem here...
while trying to boot fedora 8 usb live, I get the following message, right after the prompt asks for user login and password:

INIT: sending processes the TERM signal...

I'm gessing this makes the same as halt, or something like that...
devices start to go down and the system turns off...

what am I supposed to do?

should I change something on the initial parameters at the initial menu? (where I can chose among booting the live os, testing the memory or booting from local device...)
if yes, what ecxactly should I put there?

if not, does anyone know wtf is going on?

thanks!

Do you have an official copy of fedora 8 live or is there a chance that it could have been messed with somehow?

I would try re-creating the usb image using a newer version of fedora or one downloaded from an official source
