Hi,
I just installed OpenSUSE 10.3 on my Panasonic Toughbook CF-Y7, almost everything worked out of the box, but not the brightness control for the display.
I installed the panasonic driver "pcc_acpi_0.8.4-hy20071017" and
/proc/acpi/pcc is there with all entries:
ac_brightness, dc_brightness and their max/min values.
However, echoing values into them (e.g. echo 5 > /proc/acpi/pcc/dc_brightness while running on battery) has no influence on the current screen brightness. Only after rebooting will the new value be considered.
Someone has an idea what may be missing here ? Thanks a lot!
Does the notebook have a keyboard shortcut for the lcd brightness, such as fn+Up Arrow? Or are you trying to use drivers to do this?
You should check for that keyboard shortcut, because I know Nothing about openSuse.
Hope This Helps, and sorry if it doesn't.
Thanks for your post.
No, the Fn-Keys do not work. Normally they are mapped to pcc_acpi, but as described the driver doesn't seem to work properly for my CF-Y7, however it seems to work for other Panasonic Toughbook models.
