Install Linux with USB Keyboard + Mouse

When i try to install linux, my USB keyboard works at first.
But when it says that I should select my keyboard layout, the keyboard doesn't work anymore. Any suggestions?
My PS2 ports are broken for some reason so that's not an option.

Looked all over the forums, but I can't find an answer..

Hm... which distro are you trying to install?

And, try to select a different layout (unless you use Dvorak set that should not be too much of a hastle, select US-english and change that in KDE later, when you have the thing installed already).

Try to investigate which kernel your distro uses on the installation CD's. (2.6.x is ok, on 2.4.x it could be a kernel problem). Good luck dude!

I'm using (try to anyway

slackware.
The problem is that I can't change my keyboard layout becouse thats where I can't use my keyboard anymore.
Is there a way to set the layout the same way I can set "nousb" (which didn´t work to fix this problem btw).

Isn't there an option in bios for usb mouse/keyboard? I remember something like that. Friends of mine had a similar problem.

well there is an option for usb in my bios..
mine is set to auto.. but if I disable that, I can´t change anything in the bios after that.. (PS2 ports doesn't work)
so if it doesn't work.. I can´t use my computer anymore :/

. Yes, almost everything can be set in the kernel commandline. I'm not sure about the keyboard layout but i would expect as much...

This problem is a b***h. maybe a separate thread [how to set a keyboard layout as a kernel startup parameter] would help...
