that is where the problem starts! You should not rely on a GUI for "making things work" until you know how to properly troubleshoot problems from the command line. I suggest you do the following:
- verify if the Bacula installation is complete (if not: remove all related packages and configs and re-install from scratch from the command line).
- read the relevant documentation, configure all services manually, ensure all required services are started at boot and monitored for any outage (Monit?) or other problems (Logwatch?).
- Now you should have a generic Bacula service running, restart services, reboot machine and check service state and the logs for any glaring errors.
- Now configure your Vault and one test case and run the backup command from the command line (don't automate things yet).
- If the backup job fails check output and logs and use verbose or debug mode. Rinse, repeat.
Should you wish somebody provides further help then your next post should best include:
- Linux distribution and version,
- Bacula software version,
- clear and unambiguous confirmation you have checked & configured everything manually and have checked the relevant logs,
- any related excerpts from the job output and service logs.
