64bit RPM installation is failing on SLES-10/11 but working fine on RHEL4/5 64bit os

I have created a Storage RPM for 64bit architecture and the rpm name is “storage-x.yy-z.x64.rpm”.
RPM is created on RHEL4 x86_64 bit OS (RHEL 64bit system is used to build this RPM).This RPM can be successfully installed on RHEL4 and RHEL5 x86_64 bit OS and libraries are working as expected.

But the same RPM when I try to install on SLES-10 and SLES-11 x86_64 bit OS installation is failing with below error message.
“Package storage-x.yy-z.x64.rpm is intended for x64 architecture”

Please let me know if anyone faced the same issue or any one has idea why the rpm installation is is failing on SLES10/11 bit systems but working on RHEL4/5 64 bit systems.

Currently the work around is to use the rpm installation command with -–ignorearch option and which is working fine.

Can you try renaming the rpm from storage-x.yy-z.x64.rpm to storage-x.yy-z.x86_64.rpm ?

x64 and x86_64 are different things AFAICT.

Hi chiragrk,

That is working, i even created RPM with x86_64 extension, it is working.
But my question is why the rpm with .x64 extension is working on RHEL flavors but not on SLES flavors.

Thanks for your response once again.
