Audio software

I have some mp3 and mp4 videos where the audio has a lot of high frequency background noise which I'd like to try to filter. Any suggestions.

I know another route would be a good sound card. Feel free to make any suggestions here too.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS.

You could try some form of clamping the high frequency.

Examples:
Code:
mplayer -af equalizer=0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:-6:-6 file.mp3

mpv −−af=equalizer=0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:-6:-6 file.mp3

ffplay -af "equalizer=f=5000:width_type=h:width=15000:g=-25,equalizer=f=10:width_type=h:width=5000:g=5" file.mp3

You might take a look at Audacity's noise removal functions.

I used to use Audacity quite a bit, and, as I recall, they worked quite nicely.

Thanks, I've tried all three. They give similar very slight improvements. Where do I find info on what those command line arguments mean. I'd like to play around with them.

I've looked at Audacity. I'm still at the low end of the learning curve.
