Help me to import a file in gpg
Hi
A friend of mine installed the 'kgpg' program at my behest.
Then he sent his public key via email. He attached it on to an email. The name of the attached file is 'msg.asc'. I just double clicked it. It was opened on the 'gedit' program.
I just pressed the save button. It refused to save saying that there is alrady a file under the same name.
I saved it as 'Magnus1.asc'.
The import command didn't work. Then I saved it again. The new name is 'msg-2.asc~'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is the problem?

Can you try this? Use `cat` command to show the contents of the file. Like `cat tmp/Magnus.asc`. If the file displays, just append ` | gpg --import` after the cat command that listed your file.
That is not a pgp public key, that's a pgp encrypted message. You need to get him to send you his key. The file should say PGP PUBLIC KEY (or something like that), not PGP MESSAGE.
I need some help from our experts. I couldn't import the key, as yet.
That is not a key it is a message encrypted with a key as has already been mentioned you need your friend to send you his exported public key so you can import or he needs to send it to a keyserver so you can get it from there. He is what a key looks like that has been exported.
See the difference in the BEGIN and END parts as opposed to looking at the file you have. One thing you might want to try though is seeing if he encrypted his public key with your key and sent it to you that way so try decrypting the file you have with your key.
