Linux desktop GUI tool for CPU utilization and bandwidth utilization

Hi
I am looking for a GUI tools for monitoring desktop linux resources which gives a precision of 1 second as well the graph is descriptive in the sense of x and y-axes. i.e. if incoming network traffic is currently 4Mbps then it should show it (just like mrtg). I dont want to install mrtg or rrdtool. I need a simple solution. I want a similar tool as that of linkmonitor in windows.

I know that with gnome there exist a tool gnome system manager which shows both of the resources's utilization but the output is not so good.

Thanks in advance.

Ethereal is very good, but it sounds like you're not looking for that much information.

Perhaps Conky is closer to what you're looking for?

hmm not like them. If you use STG (simple traffic grapher) before for CPU utilization and network bandwidth for MIB enabled router; I like the same but now I want it to run on a local desktop.

Gkrellm is really nice as well, tons of config options and krells, you can set the updates per second, lots of plugins if you need em. Try it. Conky is another solution, also good, as mentioned above.
