Obviously, I can't run my screenshot program from that TTY as it's locked, but can I open my program in a new TTY and tell it which one to get data from?
Yeah, I tried some things to that end (ksnapshot -display :0),
but I kept getting this error:
Xlib: connection to :0.0 refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
This only happens if I try to connect to the login display.
For example, if I run xinit -- :1 and try ksnapshot -display :1, it works fine. Perhaps this is KDM's fault??
Any ideas? I'm not very good at messing with X: for the most part it leaves me alone; I leave it alone.
Maybe one reason your getting errors is that your not specifying a servername or hostname. I'm not totally sure though, I don't use GDM or any Graphical login and never tried exporting or taking a screenshot of it.
hmmm... nope. 127.0.0.1:0 = :0
I think I'll dig around in KDM now.
*digs around*
Well, /usr/share/config/kdm/Xaccess and /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess are the same, and allow access from all hosts, so I can't figure out why KDM is denying connections.
If I could just get KDM to run ksnapshot/import/xwd/etc after starting up that'd be great.
I've even tried inserting it into kdmrc at verious places, but to no avail. The apps always either aren't started, or are started too early/late and can't connect :P.
