Slackware not my most hated anymore

I tried Slackware before and I admit that I hated the thing before. No Package manager and crappy gnome support along with the 2.4.x kernel told me everything. I however chose to reinstall Slack and am happy to say that it's one of my favorite distros.

I finally found the innerworkings of the distro with the upgradepkg, installpkg, etc. Too bad that Dropline Gnome had to destroy my install though. Now X won't even boot.

Thank you Pat for making a great distro.

Slackware is a great distro, though not for everyone. Dropline messed with my install too

Perhaps you could indicate the error that you are getting.

Slackware is great but it's not very good for a newbie... Instead of using dropline, how about using Gnome::SlackBuild (GSB)? http://gsb.freerock.org/

What! I learned to love and use linux on Slackware. I used red hat 8 for 5 weeks and wanted a new distro. Fedora servers were slow so I tried slackware. Then again I may not be a normal computer user

I learned on slack and tried so many... none compare with slackware.
SuSE seems most popular, but that's because its so... i hate to say it.... Windows-y.
