I've heard many times that winex is an awesome program for running windoze 3d games and programs, and after a week of struggling to get the right distribution and right packages, i finally got it running! w00t!~ warcraft 3, max payne, unreal 2k3, unreal 2, neverwinter nights, Q3/Doom3 alpha.. all of them worked! ...really amazing...
man, I'll probably uninstall my copy of windoze soon ... given the fact that linux is so, so powerful.

Rep:
which version of linux did you install it in?
what generally did you do to get the games working?
what video card are you using?
what version of wineX?
How is the speed in games comparable to windows
on your machine?
I am using Slackware 9.0 with kernel 2.4.20 (stable) but i compiled mine, i don't think there is much difference.
I got the games working by typing "winex3 game.exe"
Video card is a NVidia GeForce 3 Ti 500 (Asus V8200T5)
Version of WineX is 3.0 (got the tgz package somewhere on the web.. searched for winex3-0 and got that...
Speed is pretty decent, i get around 50fps @ 1280x1024 for warcraft and about 60fps for Quake3 @ 1600x1200
Thanks for the information, neenee. I think I shall make a trip to BestBuy now. Maybe to CompUSA to get a nice aluminum case to go with the new Slackware Linux case badge I just got.
