Not sure what you are seeing or why, but hitting that page does NOT give me any "consent" screen or question.
I hope others will chime in, but if some do NOT see the problem then it might not be a problem with LQ!
Can you provide additional information about what you are doing, your ISP or access to the internet, your distribution and browser (name and version) that might help narrow down the conditions that display the issue?
Can you provide a screenshot?
Oh ok, that's on a lot of web sites, or a version of it. I think that some of Europe requires it. They passed laws requiring web sites to tell you how they are using your data. Take it up with your lawmakers.
If you look at stackoverflow without scripts on you get this. http://ix.io/4Aca
Can we override this "legal" thing? Anyhow ... google steals constantly the user data + privacy, and this is legal too.
I did not mean "legal" as in "allowed by law", but legal as in required by law. In some domains sites that you provide personal data, even so much as just your real name, are REQUIRED BY LAW to get your consent. Site CAN challenge these laws in court, but
#1 legal actions cost. Often, they cost a LOT!
#2 so far most challenges have involved a lot of losing, and a loss costs even more than a win.
#3 I do not expect Jeremy to challenge any laws just for the convenience of those users who object. IT is just not that big a deal.
#4 it is your representatives (government) exercising and (possibly misguided) attempt to protect you. There are far bigger things to complain about.
