FOSH. Look that up under "Open-source hardware"
on Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some of the things included:
The "open source hardware" logo proposed by OSHWA, one of the main defining organizations
The RepRap Mendel general-purpose 3D printer with the ability to make copies of most of its own structural parts..

You're not likely to be able to have a completely "open source" hardware computer any time soon, unless you're willing to use ancient hardware capabilities. [EDIT I forgot all about single board computers, so maybe the following isn't as valid. Some of them are open hardware (not all.)]
The fact is, it would cost hundreds of times more to build, say, a home computer, with out-of-date capabilities, currently. Possibly someday with free hardware designs and 3-D printers available for chips, etc. it might be possible.
But think of it this way (and of course it's a bad analogy) if you were to build a modern car without any pre-made components from major manufacturers... what would it cost? Millions? Would it be worth it, or would you just buy the cheapest Ford or Hyundai available? It's one reason cars (and computers) are mostly assembled in factories.
Granted, there are certain specialty scientific devices which are made this way, mostly with major backing by say, universities with deep pockets from grants. But a single scientist, or even a group spread out over the world, using only their own resources.. not likely.

I just missed, at the very least: single board computers while skimming the list. Then blurted why would we have free software and yada-yada? (again my-ish bad)

Video Authoring Application of the Year

Recently got into Flowblade and found it great for a newbie. I'm still scratching my head as how I got a five minute video to render to 280 mb. Otherwise fantastic.

Suggest better advertising for the voting poll, avoiding such heavily prejudice crowds/hangouts, such as advertising the polling only towards targeting the crazy SystemD fokls?

Bet it makes your hardware er?

I see there's also "Linux Laptop Vendor of the Year" also open-source bios of the year would be slim pickens... lol.

So, all's good.

Long as there's groups wanting freedoms, ebb and flow...

I still get a kick out of us having a: "standardized-mandatory-education" but not until your 5! WTF!

How about Best Productivity Tool?

I'm a big fan and supporter of AutoKey and, AFAIK, there's never been a category where I could vote for it.

What about: Best hardware of the year?

I would suggest the "framework laptop" for that category, The only complete modular and completely repairable laptop on the market with even a linux enabled fingerprint reader. Can't wait for it to be sold in Germany.

It's hard to determine what a "productivity tool" is, especially considering that I'm productive with IDEs, text editors, ...
