i tried VL 4 and really liked it a lot, however i was having issues with the software plaza. i have installed slack 9.1 and am using that now, but i see the simliarities between the two. i really liked VL for that fact that it left things up to me to configure and that is what i was looking for, which slackware gives me also. distros like RH and Mandrake and even suse take too much away from you and it can be too simple to use. if you want a desktop machine to browse the internet and read email, then one of those is just fine. however if you want to really learn linux, then you should try Vector Linux and/or Slackware among others i am sure.

VL is a great distro. welcome to linuxquestions.org!
