failed processes while booting

Hi,
Peace,

I have the following question;
When I start booting my Linux (Mandrake Linux Power pack Plus) I notice the following FAILED processes:
1- mount local file system- mount- fs supermount is not supported by kernel
2- mount other file systems- mount- fs supermount is not supported by kernel

What does it mean?

what version of Mandrake & what kernel please? that error is telling me that the Mnadrake supermount feature isn't compiled into your kernel for some reason. they did away with supermount in MDK10.0 & replaced it with magicdev. could you please post the contents of your /etc/fstab file? after i know what version of mdk & kernel you are running, the fstab will tell me more. as a quick test, you can turn off supermount by typing the following in terminal as root..........

Code:
supermount -i disable
hit enter

to re-enable it (if you need to) do this as root in terminal........

Code:
supermount -i enable
hit enter

a reboot will be required for the changes to take effect & you can also see if you're still getting the error.

note: if you don't know what supermount does/is, it allows you to just click on a cd/dvd/floppy drive icon with media inserted & MDK will automatically mount the device for you. with supermount disabled you will have to manually mount the device by either right clicking the desktop icon->actions->mount (or umount to unmount the device). or, you can mount/unmount the device from command line as root by any of the following methods (hitting enter after each command)...........

to mount:
Code:
mount /mnt/(nameofyourdevice
example: mount /mnt/cdrom

or

Code:
mount /dev/hdX
(where X is the name of your device)
example: mount /dev/hdc

to unmount:
Code:
umount /mnt/(nameofyourdevice)
or

Code:
umount /dev/hdX
