One problem after the next, after burning a Mandriva LE 2005 DVD ISO and burning it onto a DVD (4X's because it kept failing when I would try, 20%, 36% and so on), the Mandriva DVD will not boot up in any of my computers. I do not know why I had such a problem burning the DVD ISO, I can only assume that the write speed on the box of my blank DVD's said write speed of only 1X and I was trying to burn the other DVD's in auto (up to 4X speed) , anyway I kept getting an error message each time and almost threw in the towel. The lowest I could lower K3B burner was to 2X speed, so what the hell right, I'd try it at this speed and see what happens. When I did this, it finally burned a Mandriva DVD ISO of 2087MB, which I presume (successfuly) to be slightly over 2 gigabytes, however as stated when I try to boot with this made DVD in either of my PC's, it never boots up into the installation mode.
I really pity you. But I appreciate your resolve, most people would have given up by now.
Since the iso is about 2GB i think it has been fully written. Just basic stuff, you may obviously have done it, but just thought IŽd ask, Have you changed the boot order and chosen to boot from your dvd drive first?
Maybe you could try using a disc which can be burnt at 2x or 4x.
Regarding your data (mail and other stuff), if you dont partition your home folder, it should be ok, but I recommend backing them up.
I wonŽt be around tomorrow, so after you reply, maybe someone else can help you with the dvd issue.
I wish you have Mandriva up and running successfully, by the time I come back.
P.S.: dont forget to install development packages from dvd to compile other packages.
I was able to burn the DVD ISO successfuly as I was able to boot on one of my other PC's, for some reason it will not boot on the PC I had an issue with Mandrake 10.1 community. I tried playing around with the BIOS and moving the CD/DVD up to the number 1 selection but nothing works. It is a DVD-R.
Perhaps I should have burned a CD instead....

I downloaded and installed Mandriva on 6 CD's and formatted only hda1, I tried do just update at first but did not know how to install nvidia drivers using the graphical format. I uninstalled kopete and reinstalled it by running urpmi kopete and that fixed my password issue problem with kopete.
Edit kopete-0.10.1/doc/Makefile and find the line that starts TOPSUBDIRS=
You'll see alot of words, doc kopete po, etc. Delete fr, de, es, leaving only doc, kopete and po. There are documentation for other languages, french, german, spanish, etc, which you probably don't care about. NOTE TO THE KDE TEAM: If you detected an English system, (or Spanish), why bother including other languages in the documetation compilation???
Edit the file kopete-0.10.1/kopete/kopete/chatwindow/kopetechatwindow.cpp, and on line 563 type // before the 'm_tabBar->setAuto.. line.
In kopete/protocols/groupswise/ui/gwcontactpropswidget.cpp comment line 93, setShadeSortColumn.
