ATI radeon complete with desktop effects was working in MSI Kt6v running pclinuxos 2009.1, and now in pclinuxos 2012.02 on same PC, when I enable DE, I get a working panel, black desktop with no icons and whatever window is open shows the border and title bar but nothing else (black).

These drivers were obviously available and working before..

PCLOS 2012.02 PCC auto selects radeon X1950 and earlier. Choosing xorg>ati gives same results.

Tried boot options> xdriver=radeon and xdriver=fglrx
Synaptic shows those modules are installed.

Ran XFdrake --auto but still no Desktop effects. Tried bothe opengl and xrender under compositing types. Other wise graphics run fine.

How to find and load the drivers that were working before?

Have you tried the proprietary driver from ATI?

You can't. The proprietary drivers have dropped support for the 9250 long ago, your only option is to use the free radeon drivers.
