You use gcc as compiler but you use -lstdc++ and your code is written in c++. So you ought to use g++ instead of gcc.
CPP means usually the c preprocessor, not the compiler, and you use CPP for compiling and linking which may work here but just because you did not specify CPP as preprocessor. Better to use CC, or CXX.

You ought to use the command
install to install the binary instead of cp (see man page of install).
