I recently installed 10.2 on my IBM ThinkPad T20. To say it was interesting would be an understatement.
I had burned the iso's onto some bunk cdr's and the installation failed miserably. I did manage to get NFS set up and tried again. Turns out my iso of disk two was corrupt so I went through the process once more, this time selecting only minimal packages.
NO X, no X apps, no KDE (thank god), etc..
I am enjoying the console immensely. I would like to stick with it, however I wouldn't mind having a background image behind it all. I've looked into it a bit and it seems I'll need to custom compile a 2.6.x.x kernel and load modules?
Does anybody have any idea how this is done? I would love to do this.
It seems that something like fbsplash might be the answer once i take care of the kernel, but I'm not sure if it will allow me to
1) keep the image while actually USING the console
2) use an image other than our beloved Tux
anyhow, input is appreciated.
