But yes there is a caveat so it's not just as simple as updating the version in the SlackBuild, considering the dependencies listed by Arch even though not all be included in Slackware.
PS As an example brltty needs to be patched and version 6.6.1 with this patch applied has not yet been released.

RATIONALE: The naming of the linux binary tarballs has changed slightly[*] for Java versions newer than 8 (ie. 11, 17 and 20). The build script does not detect the architecture of the tarball properly, which results in x86_64 packages always getting named "-i586". Moreover, the actual version gets a "_linux" appended to it. The enclosed patch fixes both of these problems and works correctly with both JRE8/JDK8 and newer JDK versions (there seem to be no JRE versions newer than 8).

I didn't know about rasdaemon. But what about this?
Code:
There are currently 3 features that are enabled optionally, via
./configure parameters:
--enable-sqlite3 enable storing data at SQL lite database (currently
experimental)
--enable-aer enable PCIe AER events (currently experimental)
--enable-mce enable MCE events (currently experimental)
So you want to replace mcelog with an experimental feature of rasdaemon?

The current java.SlackBuild has a bunch of other Java 8 cruft that no longer applies (Firefox plugin, javaws, etc) so it probably needs a complete rework.
Also, my feeling is that it would be better to have a SlackBuild that repackages OpenJDK instead of Oracle Java so that we stick with open license software. It is easy enough to adjust the SlackBuild to build from either source if you want/need the Oracle JDK.
