Zoom on Slackware64_15.0

I am trying to get Zoom running on my Slackware64_15.0 (with all updates) kernel 5.15.145.

I keep getting the following error (either as user or root)

bash-5.1# ./zoom
./zoom: error while loading shared libraries: libcef.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
bash-5.1#

However under /opt/zoom there is a directory "cef" which has "libcef.so" and I have
even copied that to the /zoom folder but I still get this error message.

Not sure where I am going wrong on this.
Any help or pointers would be really appreciated. As I absolutely hate to use TEAMS.
Thank you

I forgot to mention that this version of zoom is from the zoom-linux (5.17.1.1840) on the SlackBuild.org site.

Thanks

Try to launch zoom running /opt/zoom/ZoomLauncher. Or /usr/bin/zoom-linux which is a link by SBo.

I use zoom regularly on Slackware64-15.0 with no problems

Install: I use the 'other linux' download. cd to /opt and open the archive from there. It's installed. I don't use the SBo because it just farts about with the locations and there's no gain for your pain.

Make a desktop Launcher. Your desktop launcher should point to '/opt/zoom/ZoomLauncher' and you should run as your X user. Zoom sets a $LD_LIBRARY_PATH of: /opt/zoom:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH;There should be no issue with libcef.so, which is in /opt/zoom.

Doing things that way prevents zoom's Qt from mixing itself up with Slackware's Qt version.

If what @Petri said dont work for some reason
I have a script which will create an zoom.AppImage in your system.

Where did you install zoom from? Could you post the version of zoom you have installed.

If you installed zoom from Slackbuilds, the command to launch it from the command line is 'zoom-linux' without the quotes.

And without "./" like in the first post. OP said he tried "./zoom"

Zoom in Slackware64_5.0

Well, I did try the link from rititis for the Zoom.AppImage, and went through the script and came up with
Zoom_x86_64.AppImage which still does not run.

I did try running strace on the zoom-linux which provided the following output
=================================================================================
bash-5.1# strace zoom-linux
execve("/usr/bin/zoom-linux", ["zoom-linux"], 0x7ffe55402eb0 /* 58 vars */) = 0

Also I had the same error at the end when I ran the strace on the "Zoom-x86_64.AppImage".

Are these some type of error codes at the end of the line i.e. "ZoomLauncher exit. \n", 19) = 19 ??

Thanks

I have tried it as user and root, and I can't get it to run as either, and get same error output.

I do like your AppImage script rizitis.

If you run it as yourself and after that look at ~/.zoom/logs/zoom_stdout_stderr.log, do you see anything that could explain it?

I experienced something similar (same error) a while back.
I deinstalled, zoom, made sure /opt/zoom was gone--there seemed to be some remaining cruft from somewhere--and did a clean reinstall of zoom-linux. Worked OK after that.

Well I finally have it working as a normal user (not root). I think that when I copies some of the /opt/zoom libaries into /usr/lib64 that did
it but I had not tried as normal user until just a few ticks ago.

Thank you all for the help and advise.
