How to find version of the installed XHCI driver?

Hi LQ readers,

I'm trying to find out what version of the xHCI driver is in my kernel.

When I type

Code:
lsmod | grep -i hci
(I left out the "x" on purpose)

... I get only 2 entries about AHCI, which is related to SATA rather than USB. The "lsmod" output doesn't even include EHCI for USB 2.0.

How can I identify the version of my xHCI driver?

Any help would be terrific.

That support is in the kernel.

Hi 'widget' or other:

It sounds, then, like the xHCI driver is not in a kernel module. In that case, can you please remind me how to find non-module driver versions in a running Linux kernel?

Regardless, I'd like a way to get a report of the xHCI driver version on a running Linux computer.

Have you tried that command with the entire xhci used?

I think you should do that.

You could also try;
Code:
dmesg | -i xhci

Yes, I tried that command with the entire "xhci" used:

Code:
lsmod | grep -i xhci
As expected, this removes the references to AHCI, resulting in no output from the "grep" command at all.

I also tried the following per your suggestion:

Code:
dmesg | grep -i xhci
... Still no XHCI-driver version# is listed.
