Unhappy WindowManager Help

Just recently installed vectorlinux 4.0 on a Toshiba Satellite330CDT. 266MHz, 64M ram. I run fluxbox for my WM, but the version on the CD is outdated. How can I update it to a newer version?

I decided not to get 5.0 because 4.0 looks like it will run faster on my old comp. 5.0 came with a lot of junk that I didn't really need.

bump... I Have fluxbox 0.9.13 installed from source using ./congifure, make, and make install, but I can't figure out how to get it to run. When vector starts I get the blueish screen asking me to pick WM, but choosing fluxbox boots the old version.

Still having trouble. I downloaded the slack version, uninstalled any other versions I had in pkgtool menu, and installed slack version with pkgmanager, but It still runs the old version 1.14 from the XwmMenu desktop selector screen. Do I need to change a path for the screen somehow? tried fluxbox site but couldn't find any help there.

Got it working.

I ended up reinstalling vector... not terrible cuz of quick install and I hadn't really done anything to it. I think i must have forgotten to uninstall once somewhere in my reinstalling frenzy trying to fix it.

The slack package was much nicer than the source. thnx ingvildr.

vectorlinux has a package manager (Slapt-Get) , you could use it to install , update , remove packages with ease
