RHCSA in RHEL6

hi all,

Im preparing for the RHCSA and RHEL exams using RHEL6 version.

Is it ok me to practise with the RHEL6 32 bit version(attached exact version)

It is not just ok, but exactly how it should be done. You need not worry about 32 bit or 64 bit version. And I suppose you meant RHCE exam and not RHEL.

hi vinodvb ,

Sorry I did a mistake.It should be RHCE. I dont understand what u mentioned clearely.

I practised lot of stuff using RHEL 5.4. Since they relesed the RHEL6 I could only find this version only.
I dont have any Redhat License and downloaded this image from the internet.

you idea is that " It's not the exact version used during RHCE exam , but it's ok to practise with the mentioned version of RHEL6"

Am I correct ?

You can use Scientific Linux 6. It's a free RHEL6 clone, same as CentOS 6. However, SL6 should be out before CentOS 6. It's now in RC1 stage, which means almost finished, official release is first week of March.

For a free alternative you could use Fedora, which is what RHEL is based on. It's the closest thing you will get to the test environments. RHEL is Fedora. Redhat takes a snapshot of the Fedora code base and freezes it, then refines that into RHEL releases for commercial use.

Since you've already got a 32-bit version of RHEL you'll be just fine. Good luck!

Just to clear one point up though, Fedora Core 12 is the version that is 'frozen', so if use that version to study with! (Although it says RHEL6 is based on the version is a mix of Fedora Core 12 and 13 with mods, it's still recommended to use Fedora Core 12 version)

All I can say is I just passed my RHEL 6 exams using that version! Woohoo RHCE!!!!

Nice! Congrats on the CE man, it's tough. I just passed my CSA but failed the first attempt at CE, but I'm glad I tried for it. At least now I know what to expect and what areas I'm weak in, I'm hoping to retest ASAP. Defeat is not an option! :P
